The book itself is laid out ok. The information seems pretty dated (it needs revision) compared to the current job market (applications going online only, as well as job networking). There is also a lot of information that tends to be covered in other classes, like ethics/legal concerns and the history of nursing. I could understand if this book got more in depth, but it doesnt. There are also quite a few spelling mistakes.Overall the book just doesn't seem useful. It seems to assume you've never had a job before. The few bits of good information could have been taught in class without the book easily.

Eh, I needed it for class. It arrived quickly in good condition, but it's a fairly nondescript book, and most of the information had been covered in books we had used in previous classes. It wasn't the fault of the book so much as our faculty and curriculum. Like most books of this kind, it is full of business jargon and HR buzzwords, but who knows? Maybe the knowledge contained in these pages will be crucial to my nursing success someday.

Its a pretty good read, but if you are born with common sense, then you could probably breeze through this one. There are facts tho that might come in handy to know (leadership styles, etc) when it comes to taking a Leadership course.

John R Wilson was Professor of Human Factors at the University of Nottingham and also worked for many years part time as a human factors specialist within Network Rail, the UK rail infrastructure provider. He was both a Chartered Psychologist and a Chartered Engineer, as well as being a Fellow of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (president in 2010-2011), member of the HFES and Registered European Ergonomist. He served for many years on the Council and the Executive of the International Ergonomics Association. Sarah Sharples is a Professor of Human Factors at the University of Nottingham. She leads a number of projects investigating novel technologies in workplace contexts including transport, manufacturing and healthcare, collaborating with a wide range of industry and academic partners. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors and will be president of the institute in 2014-2015. She led the Human Factors Research Group at the University of Nottingham to the award of the President’s Medal from the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors in 2013.

I was a little disappointed by the Haynes manual for the Space Shuttle, so this volume on the Lunar Roving Vehicle is a real treat for me. Jokey format aside, this book is a fascinating technical history of this unique vehicle that's surprisingly readable and superbly illustrated. Starting with a brief history of the concept of the lunar rover and the LRV design competition, the book delves deep into the numerous technical issues that had to be overcome in the 17 months from contract award to delivery. Each of the eight major systems (mobility, electrical, navigation, etc.) is described in detail and accompanied by numerous photographs and original technical diagrams. The final part describes the actual operation of the LRV on the Moon, and how the astronauts troubleshot problems.It's not a terribly long book, but seemingly no stone seems to have been left unturned. I learned, for example, how the astronauts figured out how to put on their seatbelts without being able to see their laps, how the low-gain antenna could be removed from the rover in case it broke down and the astronauts couldn't communicate with mission control, and how a simple harmonic gear reduced the 4-6,000 rpm created by the electric motors to something more usable by the wheels. No doubt this is a technical work, but the writing style is fairly easygoing, the occasional aside being used to describe some of the more obscure concepts in layman's terms. I also appreciate that the final chapter is written largely from the perspective of the astronauts who actually drove the rover.My only real complaint is the lack of an index, an irritating omission for such a detailed work. If you liked David Woods' previous book "How Apollo Flew to the Moon" you'll probably enjoy this one too.

As a spaceflight historian I was most impressed with The LRV Manual. I've not found as inclusive a book regarding background on the designs and various considered philosophies for a lunar transport.Virtually everything I have in files has been included and put in a very enjoyable, concise but layman oriented manner. You'd not be taking a gamble on this American Manned Spaceflight volume.

I thought I had every book on the Lunar rover and there wasn't much more I needed to know. I was wrong. What a great book with fantastic photos and diagrams. The book covers the early Molab concepts, the three final competitors and the assembly and operation of the rovers on the Moon. There were several photos of the rover on the Moon that I had never viewed before. This is a must have for anyone interested in project Apollo!

More history and R&D than photos and such needed for painting and detailing a model. Interesting but not what I needed.

The data and diagrams and photos are wonderful. The book is not well bound and even though I opened it carefully, sectioning front and back gently there is already a separation within a week. I expect loose pages as we read and enjoy the content. I know it is a paperback but it should still stay intact when carefully used by an adult.

I had no idea of all of the hard work, all of the designs, and everything else that went into driving a vehicle on the Moon. Now I have a very good starting point for when we go back.

Book review, Alaska Highway Flight Log by Williams S. WalkerFlying is the ultimate freedom and the ultimate challenge, as William S. Walker demonstrates in the telling of his 7000-mile, roundtrip flight from Marion, South Carolina, to Fairbanks, Alaska, in a two-seater, with co-pilot Albert Finocchiaro. To be suspended above Mother Earth in the pilot’s seat of a small plane and see hundreds of miles on a clear day is, in my view, freedom unmatched by any other experience, except walking in outer space. The flying challenge is to successfully pit your knowledge, experience, skill, intuition, patience, and common sense against the vagaries of Mother Nature’s fickle and sometimes furious weather patterns, as Walker vividly describes in this flight log.I wanted to experience the flight of Walker’s Four-Five-Golf (the two-seater’s call sign) as fully as possible. So, while reading—and I strongly recommend this—I followed Walker’s flight path on satellite photographs at the Google Maps website. As an added bonus, the site had ground-level photos of many towns along the flight path. Both give the reader a good feel for the awesome terrain that Walker and Albert overflew and the places where they landed or overnighted. At one point, having the satellite photos on my computer made for particularly exciting reading because I could see Walker’s predicament as he described the final approach of Four-Five-Golf into the Yukon’s Whitehorse airport. There was the densely populated area beneath his plane (read casualties, if he misses the runway) and a cliff looming in his windscreen, as he lost altitude. I’ll leave to your reading the fate of Four-Five-Golf as it approached Whitehorse. Maybe it should be renamed “Whitenuckle” in Walkerspeak.This is a great read for those who fly small planes and for those, like me, who always wanted to fly one, but never got to sit in a pilot’s seat. Long before Tom Cruise electrified would-be pilots with his need to “turn and burn” in the movie Top Gun, my generation of skydreamers had our imaginations fired by the exploits of Ernest K. Gann in his memoir Fate is the Hunter. Gann flew cargo over the perilous Hump (Himalayas) between India and China during World War II. I remember his description of almost making history by crashing into the Taj Mahal on a hot day when the air was not heavy enough to lift his plane over that world treasure, until the last seconds. I thought of Gann and his Taj Mahal scare as Walker described the Whitehorse airport approach. I was pleased that Walker paid tribute to Gann, to other pilot legends, and to some non-flying legends like Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Richie Valens. You’ll have to read to find out about them. Fate was, indeed, their hunter.Walker not only relates a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, his chapters contain an abundance of local color pertaining to his stops en route, as well as useful flying information and common sense tips, especially for pilots who don’t normally venture away from home where weather and ground facilities are familiar. At the end of the book, the author also provides three pages of flight planning guidelines for those who want to fly from the U.S. to Canada and Alaska. I suspect that those three pages alone, chock-full of websites and other specifics, are worth the price of the book.I enjoyed Walker’s flight log as an adventurous diversion and vicarious realization of my dream to fly. However, for me, an armchair pilot, the ultimate message of this book is not that flying is freedom and a worthy challenge, but that we all must make time (and plan) for our wildest dreams. Walker’s dream flight was decades in the making. Read about it, enjoy, dream things that do not yet exist in your life, and know that they are possible.

This analysis of how Augustine formed catechism is not only good information about methodology for RCIA instruction, it's inspiring. I came away with a greater appreciation of Augustine and his preaching ability as well as how much of himself and his convictions he brought to the formation process.

Required book for seminary. Was dreading reading it and approached it as a pending dull read. However, I was surprised to find it very interesting. Seeing how Augustine used cathechesis was an attention grabber for me. I found myself enjoying it page after page. Now, please understand it is not an easy sit down and be entertained type of read for the average person. But it was enjoyable.

Loved learning about Augustine and his teaching! Harmless writes a well thought out book that keeps you reading! I had to read this for a class in seminary and the professor told us to "skim" major parts of the assigned reading but I read it all !

The author gives a great window into Augustine's time, and the way it was done then.

This is a remarkable work of scholarship and particularly so in service to the Church, which was Augstine's only interest. I do not use the worn-out phrase, "must read" very often if ever, but if any book can be declared to be such, Harmless' work certainly is an absolute MUST to be read.
