#64,801 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

I recently picked up a copy of Ed Rush’s 21 Day Miracle and was quite pleased with it from a number of perspectives. First, it is not only well written but entertaining at the same time. Ed has an interesting approach to his use of footnotes, well worth checking each and every one.He has a great message and lots of supporting information to along with it. For example, he describes an overall message process and follows up with 10 different programs that you can use. Each addresses a different problem with a different goal to achieve in 21 Days. With most books of this genre, the author might have an overall process and then give you a program to use in one or two areas. Not Ed, there are 10. He is not showing one and then telling you that you can get access to the other tools through additional books or online programs.Ed’s process is not overly involved. His 21 Day Plans are presented in a way so that you see this is all doable within a 21-day period. A lot of similar programs make it sound difficult so that you will need more help, and how you will need to author’s involvement to get to success.I also like the way he framed certain things, like his perspective on the old Tortoise and Hare where we are led to believe that the Tortoise always wins. Ed debunks this and says to be real the Tortoise never wins, and how it hurts us to believe the Hare loses. His story of his first days in Bootcamp brought back memories. One of the key areas he focused on was how little time was required to take someone from being a civilian to a military warrior; about the same amount as his 21 Day Miracle. He said that it takes about 3 weeks to move you to a “member of the pack”.I had a similar experience, although years earlier and during a different war. Also, a slightly different environment; he was at Quantico and I was at Parris Island. Not sure if Quantico, where officers were trained, was any different than Parris Island where enlisted personnel were trained. Some things were apparently the same. I remember the second or third morning, at about 5am, it seemed like all hell broke loose. Lights flashing on and off, people screaming, Drill Sergeants grabbing mattresses with people sleeping on them being turned over and I being completely disjointed, trying to understand what was happening. What I think both Ed and I know is that those experiences were not just to screw with us, they were, in fact, critical trainings meant to last a long time. For me, this was apparent 3.5 years later at 2am when we came under attack, overrun and explosions going on all around. That second day experience came back in full force. Instead of running around in all directions, I first stopped to get a handle on what was happening, since I was soundly sleeping before all hell broke out. That training went a long way to saving my life. In fact, that time in Bootcamp was the only time I experienced this until 3.5 years later.Ed does make his point, it does not take forever to make lasting changes in one’s life. It can be, and is regularly done in a few weeks. Small increments that add up to big changes. One of Ed’s challenges in the book is to pick one of the 10 scenarios to make significant changes in 21 days. I thought about it. There are a couple that I could sign up for that would be very easy since I was already far along enough to make it too easy. So, I decided I should choose one that would be a challenge. I plan to live until 120, but I would be fooling myself if I thought I could make it in my current physical condition. I am nowhere near the condition I was in when I graduated Bootcamp on November 10th, 1965 (I wrote out the date since this is also the Marine Corps Birthday). So, I have decided to take on the 21 Day Body Challenge and make it work. I look forward to telling Ed my results and how he may have saved, or extended, my life. Now you have to admit that this is a no brainer for anyone. After all, where can you get this level of information and support from someone who flew jets at Mach something for only $8.30 for the paperback? Don’t even try to cheap out for the Kindle version at $.99. Give a Vet a break!!!!

This is THE BEST book that I have read in a long time. I was a little nervous that it was going to be one of those empty, overly buzz-worded up self help books, but I have attended the author's training and coaching events for three-plus years and was hoping for/expected more substance.I was blown away, this book was a genuine pleasure to read, and extremely provocative and challenging (in a good way)! I felt that Ed was sitting down with me and having an informal chat. The book is a quick, engaging read and LOL entertaining, especially the footnotes. He clearly enjoyed writing it, I had a clear visual of him typing away, chuckling at his own jokes (deservedly so - he's hilarious). Most importantly, Ed's advice about business, relationships, fasting, fitness, etc is all terrific and genius in its simplicity, but the clear steps to implement the advice were even more valuable.I will reread this book several times, it's like a mini seminar for any entrepreneur or aspiring entrepreneur on how to market and position yourself and do everything better! Very inspirational. I will buy paperbacks to give out to my business owner friends. Thanks for writing this!

The title alone had my gears grinding- I was absolutely ready to make a change. So I forked over $0.99 for a book that had excellent reviews. The problem I was soon to realize is that these reviews must come from his fans.I am tired of being disappointed. There are many 'authors' now who churn out sub-standard books and then boast that, 'oh, I only wrote this in x days and my time is so valuable that I must make $500 per hour. I don't even care if I get low reviews- that just means you are not doing what I say and you are stuck in the Hive-mentality'.I just finished the book and the only thing I grasped is that I should set a goal (make it a big one) and come hell or high water, try and get it in 21 days.

So glad I found this book. Not only is it a fast read, but the author is even faster at getting to the point. I very much enjoyed his references to being a fighter pilot and how his training and knowledge can be implemented by anyone wanting to make changes in their lives.Reading this book reminded me of where I am following the crowd, rather than taking a stand for myself, in a few areas of my life...but NOT ANYMORE, after reading this book. The author broke down the areas of our lives and shows how to create a 21 day plan for any and all areas. I have already chosen two areas to work on for the next 21 days - health and business.I was pleasantly surprised in being able to download some bonuses from his website, that he mentions in the book, to assist me in these changes. In particular I enjoyed his welcome video.

One of the greatest books I've read. It changed my life for sure in many many ways. I read the book in the first week of December'17. As of writing this review on 6th Feb, 2018, I have got rid of many bad habits, have acquired many good habits.1. Used to watch 4-5 hrs per day (yes DAY) of TV - Now it is on an average 1-2 hrs a week (yes a WEEK).2. Was not reading books at all, now read about a book every two weeks.3. Was getting taxi to office every day, morning and evening, now walk at least twice a week to office (25 minutes walk each side)4. Was not doing any exercise or physical activity at all - now I do 15 minutes Yoga every morning (let's call it at least 5 times a week)5. Due to good riddance of TV (& also Facebook), I'm getting much better amount of sleep every day, so feel much more refreshed.6. Healthy eating - I eat salad only for Lunch, and light dinner=> With all these changes put in place in my life, I have lost 5.5kg (12 lbs) in 2 months - YES!!==UPDATED/ADDED===> Because I'm reading books and taking lot of courses in the time I was originally wasting on TV, I'm getting better at my job as well. So, in short - Thank you Ed for changing my life.

I consider Metaxas one of the best writers living, but I was hesitant to read this one. First, it's thick (I usually prefer thin ones). Second, thousands of books have been written about Luther (and many written by him). Why do I need another Luther biography? Because it's Metaxas. He starts off perfectly, explaining how MLK, Jr. got his name, which basically leaves no doubt -- this is important to all of us. He then lists the things "everyone knows" about Luther -- that are all wrong! I was hooked. Not to ruin the surprise, but key information literally "unearthed" in 2008. So yes, Metaxas adds new information to a well told 500 year old story, and it is really worth examining. But here's the best part about Metaxas' biography -- he makes sure God gets the glory. So many details are known about Luther. It would be impossible for most to write this book, given all the information available. Metaxas pulls out the pieces of Luther's life that show how God was always part of the story. Beginning with his mom naming him Martin (and all the parallels with Saint Martin, who lived a millennium earlier). Luther was instrumental in the reformation, but he was not like "protesters" we know today. He could have been killed for his beliefs (like many before him and around him). He fully understood that. But he knew God is bigger. He clung to what was true, regardless of consequences. He listened to God, and he was brilliant, but he was not flawless in any sense. Metaxas gets that. God gets all the glory in this book. And ihe book is shockingly funny -- at least to me. I literally LOL'd many times. The people around me asked, "what?" -- and it was never easy to explain. I heard that earnest but lighthearted Metaxas voice delivering several lines, and it struck me as very humorous. I now suspect Luther would've liked it that way. This is not a story that praises Martin Luther. It is much more. Soli Deo Gloria.

I enjoyed the details in explaining the politics of indulgences. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in church history and those of you that don’t really know how Martin changed the world. The misuse of power and politics is forgotten and must be remembered in context. I give it a high rating because Eric made this history captivating and impossible to put down once you start reading. This book is timely given the way we are tearing down statues of historical figures without considering the totality of a Man.

On Tuesday of this week I woke up to find both my kindle and audio version of the mammoth book. Since Bonhoeffer I have read every Metaxas book and both travel to see him at some of those book launches and become a regular listener of the Eric Metaxas Show normally by Podcast on the website. Since I knew the book was coming, I clear most of my schedule so I could read/listen to the book. It twenty hours long or 450 page (plus footnotes etc). Eric is without doubt an excellent writer! Something I am not. For most of my life I worked in the Printing profession so I was glad to see the Eric gave the invention of the printing press it's proper due in why Martin Luther's reforms work where other before him fell short. Martin Luther is depending on who list one of the top 5 people on the last Millennium. I personally rank him 2nd to Johann Gutenburg who moveable type combined with the Printing Press was the Reformation and the biggest event of the last millennium.Being a son of the Protestant Reformation I have never understood how one could be "Roman Catholic". Eric does the huge task of taking us back to the world of 1500 and that in Europe the Pope was ruler over all the rulers in what was called the Holy Roman Empire. The fact that this Monk could not be killed like nearly everyone else who dare question Catholic dogma of the time is in fact a GREAT story! Don't start this book on a Sunday night because it will ruin your week! Start on a Friday and don't plan on doing anything else for the weekend!Eric is like Martin in that he write book for the average reader. Buy and more importantly READ the book!

Another great biography by Eric Metaxas! I thoroughly enjoyed his work on Bonhoeffer, but I thought it was a bit tedious in its detail. Luther is another very nice book, but it lacked some of the tedious details that were in Bonhoeffer. One reviewer has called this book a "fluff" piece since it did not address the anti Semitic writings Luther made in the later part of his life. However, that reviewer must not have read the book as it does address some of the inexplicable statements that Luther made as an old man. Metaxas offers no explanation, but calls them inexplicable since they went against the 99.9 percent of his other writings. One could call them the work of an elderly man struggling with dementia or the work of an elderly man struggling with a bad temper. It would all be conjecture that overlooks the 99.9% of his other work. This book takes pains to bring to light so many things that we take for granted today like freedom of religion and democracy that were the results of Luther's movement. This book is not simply the re-telling of familiar events in Luther's life, it's meant to show the reader how Luther was the bridge Europe took to modern life. When one reads this book, one comes away from it realizing that Luther really did change the world.

Sorg, Eileen. Drawing Made Easy: Colored Pencil. Walter Foster. 2009. c.64p. illus. ISBN 978-1-60058-151-9. pap. $9.95. ART INSTRUCTIONSorg, a young award-winning artist, creates precise drawings that capture the extreme realism and character of her subjects. Hers is a brief manual for beginners. For intermediate students, Kullberg, who runs a popular colored pencil web site, reviews in her book examples of mediocre work, analyses problems (like “Chiclet teeth”), and transforms each into a stronger image. Advanced artists will revel in Nickelsen’s Colored Pencil Bible, filled with inspired, luminous techniques.  -- Library Journal , July 2009

Have a couple of other colored pencil 'how-to' books but this one has the most useful information. Better examples of materials, pencil strokes and color schemes; even different ways to hold your pencils. Lots of animal examples: guinea pig, tree frog, puppy, kitten, horse & more; several man-made objects such as shoes, glassware and a classic car which are very helpful to learn transparency & shine of surfaces; a daisy flower plus the cover example of assorted fruit provide a wide assortment of practice to build your skills. Although written for those with drawing aspirations I find it's wonderful for getting realistic renditions in coloring books. I will be looking for more of the author's books.

Many colored pencil books share two features: involved exercises copying full fledged works by the author, and interminable layers of color, often provided without explanation. This book does neither, and benefits from the omissions. Inside are short projects, usually consisting of a single figure on a white background. The figures are often adorable--a tree frog, a kitten, a turtle, and so on. The layering used to produce the colors is also stripped down, rarely consisting of more than three colors. This approach has the twin advantage of offering easily digestible chunks that can be produced in a single sitting, a big advantage for those of us who are extremely busy but like to unwind with art, and simple enough color schemes that the underlying idea becomes transferable to other projects.I take this book on airplanes with me, along with a colored pencil roll and a small sketchbook. It's a wonderful way to pass the time on a flight and I've even managed to trade some of the resulting drawings for things like fishing lessons while in flight.

If you are just starting to work with colored pencils or are thinking about working with them, this is the perfect book for an introduction on how to work with the medium. It doesn't cover basic drawing principles so it's not the right book to learn to draw but I would recommend it if you are hoping to learn how to work colored pencils for the results you want to get from them. Nice techniques, good instruction.

Great projects that provide specific instructions - but are guiding you to understand and practice principles used in colored pencil drawings. I have been doing each project twice - first, faithfully following all instructions, and a second time without relying on the instructions so much and tweaking to improve my drawings.

I love this book and have produced some really nice artwork following her step by step instructions. I .like how she gives all the colors up front and then tells you where to start.

This book contains step by step instruction on several projects such as a parrot, dog, and fruit still life. Also included are the colored pencil choices and step by step instruction on how to apply the colors. Very helpful to newbies.

Absolutely delighttful book with projects that do not intimidate but make you feel you could really do them. I can't wait to get started!

Love this book. I wanted a book that did not use solvents. There's many fun designs to try. I will be using this for weeks.

"The Card" is a fantastically written story about thy card ... a PSA 8 NM-MT T206 Honus Wagner ... and the unusual history & conflicting stories surrounding the mystery of what is now know as "The Gretzky Card"! The path this specific card has taken from its discovery & introduction to the public back in '85 by Bill Mastro (now a convicted felon), after purchasing from a small time card dealer, is simply amazing! This book takes you on a compelling journey on how this card was originally purchased for $25,000 by Mastro, with the financial assistance of Robert Lifson (President of Robert Edward Auctions, LLC), to eventually being sold/auctioned off another 6 times culminating in a $2.8 million purchase (presently owned by Ken Kendrick/owner of Arizona Diamondbacks). "The Card" keeps you captivated and does a nice job filling in the back stories and developing the characters who have been influential in either purchasing and/or buying The Card! Its a fun read and highly recommended!

This covers the story of what is called the T206 Gretzkey Honus Wagner card which if you are in to collecting sports card you probably aware of. This story also discuss the collectible card industry in general. Anywhere their is a chance to make a large sum of money there will always be Con Artist, Crooks and Shysters and it appears it is the cases even in todays trading markets which is a dam shame. Overall this is a pretty good read even if you are not in to collecting sports cards.

ABOUT THE BOOK: As someone who once collected baseball cards as a kid, it was interesting to learn a little something more about the hobby and it's most sought-after baseball card. I never knew how cut-throat baseball card collecting really was. It was also nice to learn a little something about Honus Wagner, a long-forgotten Hall of Famer. For anyone who has collected baseball cards, this book is worth reading for the the history and background on the hobby and some of its key players even if the book might be a bit dated already (technology evolving and all). The book is well researched and interviews are solid. I'd expect as much from a reporter and O'Keeffe delivers.ABOUT THE PRODUCT: For a 99-cent Kindle edition, remember you get what you pay for. There are many errors throughout this edition including broken words. For example... Since it appears most often, the word "service" or "services" is 99 percent of the time presented as two words: "ser vice" or "ser vices." Only once did I notice it as one word. Numericals were also broken into two elements after commas. There was even one sentence where a word was misspelled and not even a line and half later, spelled correctly. Extremely annoying, but no one is perfect when it comes to typos. However, not presenting words correctly is just down right irritating. It was almost as if the Kindle editor didn't know the English language or was a computer with its autocorrect malfunctioning. But again, for a 99-cent Kindle book, it is what it is. (And I'm far from perfect, so I hope I haven't littered this review with typos!)STARS: The topic gets 4 stars, the Kindle errors knock it down to 3 stars.

Like any true baseball fan, my first trip to Cooperstown is one of the enduring memories of my life. Unfortunately childhood memories fade over the decades, and these days I would be hard pressed to name the five most memorable moments of my visit. I can, however, easily name the most vivid highlight: seeing the T206 Honus Wagner card in person for the one and only time of my life. Here it was: the unattainable card, an avatar for an entire hobby. A masterpiece. One never really forgets the T206 Wagner, but the sense of awe that I felt that day was not re-awakened again until I watched the magnificent 30-For-30 Shorts film by the Barnicle Brothers. Shortly afterwards, I purchased "The Card," and promptly devoured it.As the first comprehensive telling of the story of the most prized baseball card ever collected, O’Keefe's book works on a number of levels. It is at once a history of baseball card collecting, a history of the groundbreaking T206 set, and – not immaterially – a history of the great Honus Wagner himself. Above all, though, the book is a history of the "perfect" Wagner card, most famously owned by Wayne Gretzky. It is this card’s story that makes and breaks the book: a tale of intrigue and skullduggery worthy of any mystery novel. The "genesis" story of the Gretzky Wagner is of particular fascination. How did the most prized baseball card of all time appear at a Florida flea market; possibly in an unheard-of format? How did it end up in the hands of a down-on-his-luck Long Islander, and what became of it in his possession? And what happened in the back room of a shabby card shop in Hicksville, New York before the card set off on its incredible journey to becoming the world’s most famous piece of cardboard? I could have read 200 more pages about these events. As the tale unfolds, and the Wagner’s murky past is drowned out by the blur of millions of dollars, one unfortunately begins to wonder if O'Keeffe himself got in too deep in the course of writing the book. Whether he's cynical by nature or just became that way after peeling back the curtain on a bloated, oversaturated hobby rife with hucksters and grifters, at times there is a sneering undertone to "The Card" that makes it a little difficult to truly love. As an unapologetic child of the junk wax era, I could never really identify with the book’s quixotic Wagner-chasers, the men with "holes in their psyches," but neither did I find them as contemptible as O'Keeffe seems to. "The Card" reads like a book that still wants to believe in the romance of the Wagner and the fun of collecting, but has seen too much and been let down from too great a height to really see past the monolith of "The Hobby." For someone who still finds enjoyment in the simple pleasures of a white elephant like the 1987 Topps baseball set, "The Card" is a bit like the Wagner T206 itself: fascinating, but always just out of reach.
