DAT Achiever, DAT Destroyer, StudentDoctorNetwork.net, Wikipedia, and This thing are your best sources for DAT studying. Throw in the kaplan book just to make sure you cover all the subject matter and you're complete.These exams are EXTREMELY easy compared to the actual DAT. That being said, the grading is very difficult. If you get just one or two wrong on a section, it drops you down more than a few points. This is how the actual DAT is, but the questions are a little more difficult.Use this thing if you're out of study materials and you have a week or two left till the exam. It's not really good for anything other than keeping you busy.Check out the Barrons book for the PAT section. The book is worthless for everything else, but it's PAT is really good. It's got tons of mistakes in it, so you must check your PAT answers by yourself or with a friend. Don't look at the other sections, they're all incorrect.I'm now a second year at UCSF...

As a poor college student trying to make it to dental school, I was hesitant to buy this. However, it turned out to be the best 90$ investment for the actual DAT. I bought the Princeton Review DAT study guide and this product, and it was very helpful. I actively studied about 2 weeks before the actual DAT exam (about 5-6 hours a day). Prior to those two weeks, I studied on and off during the college semester whenever I had the time and energy. I would say that the most helpful method to prepare before actually taking practice exams is to study hard during college. It makes it easier to study for the DAT.As for the product itself, I thought it was slightly confusing to use at first but all went well in the end. One thing to take into consideration is that it does EXPIRE after 7 months. The PAT section did have repeat questions in each of the 3 tests, and by the time I did the third test I could already see what the answer was. In addition, the answers need to be evaluated by looking at the answer sheet and comparing it to the answer that you chose - unlike the science and math section, it does not show you the right answer and explanation on the spot.Finally, the grading system was questionable. I repeatedly got a total score of 18 on each of the 3 exam (I also scored a 16 and 17 on the Princeton Review exam, which I also thought questionable). However, on the actual DAT I got a score of 21, and a ran out of time on every section except the science section. To summarize, I score 17 Biology, 22 Chemistry, 23 Organic Chemistry, 21 Reading, 21 PAT, and 24 Quantitative Reasoning.Overall, I was happy with my score and with the little time and money for studying, I thought this was a great investment.

Very out of date. Out of date questions. Out of date answers. Not a very good way of assessing your ability to score well on the real exam

If you're going to prepare for the DAT, purchasing this software is still a good idea. However, please be aware of certain weaknesses of this software, as there are some: 1) After taking the real DAT, I realized the science sections of this software were more difficult, partly due to the highly specific nature of the questions. 2) I noted that there were an annoying number of incorrect answers on the PAT sections of this test. A portion of the sample questions were clearly variations of those on the official test. Yet, some of these figures were misdrawn, (esp on the top-front-end sections) such that diagrams contradicted each other. Therefore, we're forced to guess between two wrong answers, trying to predict which was the intended correct answer.

Be aware when purchasing the TOP Score CD, that what you are buying is pretty much 3 practice tests. There is some information on tips for taking the DAT and an outline of what you should know, but it is not a study guide. The CD was good for the most part, but the solutions to questions were terrible, the perceptual ability tests were not as difficult as the PAT on the actual DAT, and I did find multiple mistakes throughout the practice tests. The CD will help you study, but whether it's worth the high price is for you to decide.

I would definitely recommend this CD to anyone studying for the DAT. The format and questions themselves are very helpful in preparing you for the actual DAT itself. Being able to take timed practice tests on the computer at home was a good prep for the big test day.

These tests set up a realistic expectation for what I might see on the test as opposed to Kaplan's practice exam in the back of their book.

I had to read it for a class. I liked the idea of having everything together and was happy for the opportunity to rent it.

While taking my last class for my MPH, I found this book very difficult to read. There was no structure to the book and realized I only needed it as a resource. The book arrived in good shape. No complaints there, but again it was a difficult read.

So clean, came on time and looks just like the pic.

A great quick read that cuts to the meat very succinctly. Gene Simmons may rub some the wrong way, but he is a master of controlling not only his image but his business environment as well. This is how a poor child from Israel rose to the heights of music and business by taking and using his power.Simmons walks the reader through his core philosophies of hard work and confidence while presenting unique social and political points of view, all while giving you calls to action.You don't need to be a KISS fan to enjoy and benefit from this book, in fact, Simmons only uses KISS stories to demonstrate his philosophies in action.I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to light a bit of a fire under themselves and get their life moving in a higher gear.

I read people I admire, whom I wish to understand. Gene Simmons was not someone I -thought- I would like to know...I couldn't have been more wrong. His writings are clear, concise, and directly address opportunities and problems, giving one much to consider with respect to integrity and moral action on the road to becoming a powerful person.Like advice from a loving but stern father, Gene speaks truth on what the world expects from us, and how our reaction to those expectations can accelerate or exclude us towards becoming more useful, and more powerful people. Power takes commitment of course, but so many more ingredients, listed here, are absolutely essential to rise and wield effective power and authority. Without judgement, he explains how our choices predispose likely outcomes, giving entertaining examples and more of his personal brand of advice. Lots of advice. Good advice.Making personal decisions amongst the many 'grey' areas of culture, workplace, political and social situations can lead us to becoming strongly biased against our own success. Hearing how powerful people make decisions in these scenarios, and how tactics and strategy in choosing how to live is an excellent reference without going thru the pain ourselves. This book is not PC. It's an honest assessment of power structures within many aspects of life, and a guide to help us understand cause and effect along our journey from any point to any destination. I bought copies for my friends and family, but wouldn't necessarily want children under 16 to read it entirely, it's just too honest!

My teen age son (14) loves music and I thought this might be a good book for him to read in regards to his future plans. However I wanted to read it first to make sure that the language and content was clean. Aside from a few (s*&% words and F*@5 words from a quote) the book is overly clean and easy for a teen ager to read.I also bought this book because I listened to the recorded introduction by Simmons himself and loved his execution and the retelling of his beloved mother escaping the Nazis, moving to Israel and the story of her arriving in the US and her feelings for America. This and the chapter on David Grohl is written with true sincerity. The rest of the book is the authors short justification for selling "grotesque" to teen age American youth.He concludes with the message, "Be a psychopath with a conscience." Which would give me the opportunity to explain what a contradiction of therms is to my son and how they would cancel each other out resulting in either gibberish or meaninglessness.I would love this author, with this much talent, to write an anthology of musicians stories. He has a brilliant perspective. I would buy a clean version of this kind of anthology from Gene Simmons.As for this book. I'm going to wait another year or so before I give it to my son. Perhaps around 16.

Not too much here but decent readUnfortunately, there aren't too many big revealing secrets in this book. The simple message is, you work , work and work to get what you want. He just demonstrates this with stories. This is not what most want to hear. Most people want to hear that there is a short cut to get wealth and power. There is nothing new here that your grandmother or mother didn't tell you: work hard and keep pushing yourself. This is basically your borderline new age self help book but if you really like that type of stuff there are better books. The other thing I didn't like is the way the book is bound. It has a solid cover that is too thick and pages that are too thin almost like an old bible and the pages can be torn or damaged easily. It has a solid feel on the outside but on the inside the pages have a flimsy feel to it. Perhaps the oddest book binding I've ever seen. lol If you are looking for strategies on how he got rich or strategies on how he runs his business, there aren't too many here. The basic idea is work, work, work, work 2-3 jobs, make money, improve yourself. In a nutshell, he supposedly didn't get where he got by luck (which is what we are all hoping.. the easy answer without too much hard work.) no, he worked his ass off and he wants you to do the same thing without any shortcuts. It's basically what your mother told you, you got to work hard for what you want. lol. There is really nothing beyond that here.

This is the most important book you can purchase to understand dyslexia. My husband and I both listened to the book in our automobiles within months of hearing our daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia. I quickly purchased the hard copy, and completely highlighted important points, and took notes! notes! notes!!! I refer to these notes and this book almost every week to make sure I stay on target for her reading and writing education. One thing that I refer to all of the time is about 15 techniques/exercises this book mentions to use. Our school already has used this book as the foundation of it's special reading program for a number of years. It is an award-winning school. As suggested in this book, we had our daughter tutored last summer 3 times a week by an experienced tutor who uses a dyslexia-approved curriculum listed in this book. We continued to follow this book's recommendations all year. Results will absolutely vary, but my daughter has gone from the bottom 5% in reading at her grade level (in other words, she couldn't read) to the 60th percentile of her grade level (she can now read signs, menus, directions, books). She still has a way to go, but she can now read and write! This is the foundational book to help! A friend of mine also used the book's suggestions without hiring a tutor, (she tutored him herself as best she could) but switched her son to a school that used dyslexia-approved curriculum, with an experienced teacher (as suggested by this book) and her son's reading jumped two grade levels, from a pre-1st grade level to entry third grade level in one year.

As a parent of three children with dyslexia (aka Auditory Processing Disorder, aka Specific Language Impairment) this book is like the "bible" for dyslexia. It is well-researched and written in layman's language. And most importantly, it is based on science. I first purchased this book when it came out in 2003 when my daughter was diagnosed at age 8. I have loaned it out several times to other parents who were searching for answers. And believe me most problems students have in school by far are "reading" problems and the overwhelming problem is dyslexia (and other names other therapists use instead of the "D" word). And that is based on science as well. How do I know? Just read this book. Effective advocacy begins with an informed parent.

Must read for every teacher and parent. Just a must read. Our brains are not hard wired to read, and while most people pick it up over time with patience and support, there are some kids for whom this approach does not work, and that is who this book was written to help.Even if you are an adult who struggled with reading, it can help you. Please read, share, and encourage.

I'm not sure whether or not my 7 year old granddaughter is dyslexic, but in the middle of 1st grade, she began to receive help from a reading specialist at her school 3 times per week. When she was younger, she loved books. Starting 1st grade, she did not want to read at all. She excels in math and loves school in general, but I was afraid she would become so frustrated by her difficulty with reading that she would "turn off" to school. I found this book to be thorough. Although my granddaughter doesn't demonstrate all the symptoms described, she does exhibit some. Ihave been implementing suggestions offered and purchased several of the book series recommended. My granddaughter is improving her reading fluency and is increasing her self-confidence. I would heartily recommend this book to anyone who has a child that is finding reading a chore!

The book helps one to understand dyslexia in more layman's language than a lot of other books and sites on the internet. The author gives a hands on approach to helping the child, with word lists and mile markers /how to assess the child yourself and to 'test' for specific ages and grades. In that way it has been a very useful book.Decoding words is what the basis of the book is and it does help with challenges when put into practice.They point out all the different facets of dyslexia and the emotional strategies for their well being which is hugely important.Many of the places they advise you to contact for guidance and help is not really helpful for the most part because they are places that charge and assess the child, still leaving one kind of hanging out there wondering what to do anyway.What little information you acquire from the testers and teaching facilities, it still leaves you not quite knowing if they are what you child needs. The costs can be rather high by the time you might or might not know if you have chosen the correct help for YOUR child.It is a financial gamble you have to be willing to take. I have applied a lot of techniques from the book, but it is not a one size fits all program,just like people. It is the second semester right now and it has made a difference to the second grader I am working with. I give it four stars as it's recommendations and referrals for help are not really helpful or very accessible for moderate incomes, which he never explained or rated them and some of them are not even in business any longer.

Dyslexia runs in my family and this book gave me so much information on how to see signs of dyslexia, what to do, as well as hope for a dyslexic child! I think all elementary teachers should read it as well as any parent with a struggling reader. It really helped me!

Silly junie B! Always getting into mischief, ( what else is new? Haha ), this little situation reminded me of what happened to me when I was young. I had gone to the barber shop, the place was absolutely magical! Sinks in rows and fun chairs you could spin in! Until, I spun in the chair while the lady was cutting it! Let's just say it did not end well. I learnt my lesson all right, just like junie BThanks for reading! :)

My daughter loves the Junie B. Series! She is in the second grade and loves reading this book, and I don't even need to bribe her into reading!

This book is hilarious! You got to realize this is coming from a 6 yr. old. Not that it is fine what she says and how she says things, but she is corrected! Goes for all the Junie . B. books!

Great series of books. All three of my daughters have loved them.

My daughter and I love the Junie B. books, and this one is another classic. Junie B. imagines that, with a little practice, she too can become a hairdresser, with all of the usual goofiness. I have to give the book four stars because of the (intentional) incorrect grammar. I realize that Park writes like this because the kiddo grammar is hilarious -- for adults with a solid foundation in English. As a speech pathologist, however, I know that there are many children who will not understand the irony in the inaccuracies and who need to hear consistently correct English. I have to admit that I correct the grammar when I read the books to my daughter, but I also realize that many children are sophisticated enough to understand the irony.
