How awesome is this book? I really love it, and so does baby. At 23 months old, he was able to "read" the book within days of receiving it. It contains familiar persons/objects, with a repetitive catchphrase. "Peekaboo, I see my Mommy." "Peekaboo I see my puppy." etc. Pictures are also beautiful. It is baby's new favorite.

I initially thought this book was way to "simple" for my 20 month old daughter when I first read it. Turns out that she LOVES this book. I've read it 7 times in a row in one sitting. She can't get enough. Loves seeing a little kid that looks like her in the book - and references to Mommy, Daddy, and grandparents make for a personal and identifiable touch. Very sweet and fun book.

"Peekaboo Morning" by Rachel Isadora was a wonderful addition to my collection of picture books! The story features a delightful black child, who is probably male -- but the gender is not specified & a female could easily identify with the child. The illustrations are colorful and well-designed. All the illustrations are enjoyable, but the child looking at his mirror image is unusual. Showing grandma under her hat, grandpa behind his newspaper, and bunny ears prior to showing the full grandma, grandpa, and bunny gives children practice interpreting pictures. The child is seen having loving interactions with his mommy, daddy, grandma, grandpa, and his white friend. The phrase "Peekaboo! I see..." is often repeated. I know one young child of limited vocabulary, who began to say, "I see you," after hearing the story a few times.

Loved the concept but this must have been a larger book originally. Unclear what you were looking at, as it was too small for little ones to see the thing they were to find. Nice bright colors.

I was disappointed with the revised version of Usborne Time Traveler. I own all four of the 1993 edition books and expected this to be a compilation of those paperback books into one hardback book. Although this 1998 version still has a lot of information, a lot of the information is left out from the previous editions. It is missing significant amounts of the main text on each page. There used to be captions for almost everything going on in the full-page illustrations, but now it has up to 50 percent less text per page. There are also some sidebar pictures missing. The coloring of the drawings gives the impression that the artwork is crisper in this new version. It is less cluttered looking, but this is at a cost of less historical explanation. It is still an enjoyable book if you don't know what you're missing, but if you are replacing older editions you'll be disappointed. I am seeking out a used copy of the 1993 version (also available compiled in hardback form if you look hard enough).

This book is a favorite of ALL of my kids, both boys and girls. We originally bought it for the Sonlight 1st grade home schooling program. My older boys kept "borrowing" the book because it had information on Vikings, Knights, Romans and Egyptians. The younger girls loved seeing what clothes people would wear and what houses families used to live in. This book has lots of information in it that is very interesting and understandable to both boys and girl. The four sections focus on a time showing thru both words and text- What people eat and wore?- What their towns or cities were like?- What their civilizations are still famous for?- What their families looked like?- What did their kids do for schooling?Highly recommended. We have bought a few copies as gift for friends for 6th thru 10th birthdays.

I should probably order another copy of this book because my children have such a hard time sharing it! As the product description states, the book covers four historical civilizations by introducing the reader to a family who lived during each time period. The drawings are amazingly detailed and, as another reviewer stated, they fill each and every page. There is so much information, but it is engaging rather than intimidating, even for my five year old son and seven year old daughter. The various members of the families in each time period take us home, into the kitchen, to play, to school, to work, to the market, to battle, to a feast, to a farm, and of course, to Pyramids, castles, the Colosseum, and on and on. We get a really informative window into what the people of each time and place had available to them (waterways, food, housing materials, weaponry) and learn how they used each to their advantage. All of this is presented in bright colors and kid-friendly illustration (cartoonish, rather than text book looking- sort of reminds me of Where's Waldo?). They could look at it for hours. We have used this as an invaluable resource for our Classical style homeschooling, but the children often look at it apart from school time. I highly recommend it to anyone for any elementary aged child.

Usborne books have beautiful illustrations, and this book is no exception. My daughter reads with rapt attention, the illustrations are both amusing and informative at the same time. For children reading ancient history at school, this is a great visual aid for giving color to their imagination.

I originally purchased this as a resource to use in homeschooling my six year old. We are studying ancient cultures, and I feel that the Usborne format is appealing to younger children. However, when it arrived my ten year old grabbed the book and spent the next four hours reading!The book is hard covered and is really four smaller books that have been put together to form this one large one. It contains a section on Knights and Castles, Viking Raiders, Rome and Romans, and Pharaohs and Pyramids. Each section has you sest your time helmet to travel to your destination and then introduces you to the people of the time. Food, burial, dress, and every day life are covered in the sections. The buildings are shown from both the outside and a cut-away to the inside. There is a ten question quiz at the end of each part of the 130 page book. The answers to the quizzes are in the back of the book.It's really a lovely book to compliment a homeschooling curriculum or just for a child who loves to learn. I'm very pleased with the purchase.

The last chapter of Seven of Spades is finally over, and it was spectacular! I so wanted to know the how and the who and yet didn't want it to be over too soon. I fell in love with all the characters that Ms Kingsbridge painstakingly created and nurtured through all five books.While romance between Dom and Levi took a back seat, I could still feel how much they loved each other, the emotional support that Levi gave Dom when cravings hit him too hard, and the feelings of inadequacy Dominic felt when seeking reassurance from Levi. Levi was battling his rage at the inability to see who the killer was and inability to prevent the tragedies in time. Yet after all they've been through Dom and Levi understood each other more, had the kind of trust that was born from pain and betrayal, and were always in tune. Surrounded by friends and family both men found courage and strength to do what needed to be done.The Sin City is in chaos. It's time for the secrets long buried come to light. But while Seven of Spades bides their time, Las Vegas is slowly eroded from the inside by crazy lunatics and zealots. The carnage is insurmountable, and what once was considered home and safety does not feel the same. Levi, Dominic and Martine are racing against the clock to save the city they love.The climax of the story is thrilling, edgy and suspenseful. With the help of Seven of Spades the guys and Leila enter the enemy's stronghold to try and save many lives that are at stake. They succeed but in the end does one sacrifice make up for all the deaths?All the questions are answered, everything that was a mystery is no more. What is left are people who are trying to survive the loss, the lies and the guilt. The city will rebuilt and move on, the culprits will never see the light of day again, and Levi and Dominic are finally able to slow down, to heal and find the peace that Seven of Spades have robbed them of so long ago. A wonderful finale to a splendid series! Bravo!

I've enjoyed this series immensely ... and, as usual when I become invested in the characters, I'm sorry to see it end. But this will definitely be a series I'll read again. I'm not sure how I feel about the reveal: Levi's reactions were strong but there's something that was missing ... not sure I even know what it was ... just a feeling I have about the second 1/2 of the book being rushed. Maybe that's on me: I didn't want the series to end. The prologue was a bit ... odd ... like there weren't enough sex scenes so one last one had to be put in there ... wasn't needed but hey! I'm just the reader. But don't miss out on this series: it truly is excellent and I waited with baited breath for each novel to come out. Just sorry there's not another!

Cordelia Kingsbridge never fails to disappoint. I really hate waiting too long to read the end of a series, so I waited until 16 days before the last book dropped until I started reading. Though I still ended up so enthralled, that I read the first 4 too fast; I still had to wait 6 days for the final volume. She always hits all my favorite novel buttons. This one as especially great, because of the characters. You both love and hate all of them equally when the triumph, and make mistakes. Through the bad times and the good; you root for every character, because they all felt so real. The Seven of Spades even had me tearing up at the end. I could read this series forever, and wouldn’t mind another novel into their lives. Until then, I will definitely reread this series. It will be even more fun knowing who did it.

This was a satisfying end to the series. I’m not going to say anything about the plot, because I might give something away unintentionally; suffice it to say that I enjoyed the ride.But I must say that I was completely disappointed by the production value of this book. There wasn’t a single em dash—instead, there were only single hyphens without spaces around them—so when the “dashes” were in sentences that also contained genuine hyphens, it made things even more difficult. I was tempted to return the book, but I needed to find out what happened. I hope the publisher fixes the mistakes and pushes an update. It honestly took the shine off my reading experience so severely that I nearly downgraded my rating to four stars.

hi i received this bundle in 2 days with free shipping, and the cost is much cheaper than in college bookstore, my college is selling it for $170.00 and i saved a lot on amazon, i am making others life easier by giving this review. it contains everything that you need, a registration code, an essel to hold your book, a small manual to accompany which i feel not necessary, and the main book of document processing.. its all in one big box.. though amazon dont give any such description and so its difficult to understand what you are ordering. i feel the other students before ordering just order a book and you can buy the code online on the gdp site.. well it both makes the same cost.. amazon saved my money..thank you so much amazon

I was very skeptical about buying this because I could not get a clear answer as to if it came with an access code and if it even worked if it did come with one. It came in a box with the cover looking like the picture. It contained a hard cover spiral text book, a student word manual, a cardboard easel and the registration card with access code (which worked). I would recommend to buy if your looking for a cheaper buy than the college bookstore.

Ordered this because it included access code per item description. But when the book came, access code did not work. On calling the publisher, they informed the code has already been used. I had to buy access code separately paying for a full book

It came with the GDP activation code and all the books I needed for my college course.

This is a great item for class. It has the large teaching book with a smaller "reference" book (gives examples of proper document formatting & abbreviations). My only complaint is the "easel" that is included: it's cardboard, had a 1/2" base/"edge" to rest a 3" book! I ended up buying a different easel (metal, with a larger base) just to hold the book in place because the cardboard one was not big enough for the book.

I'm very pleased with this purchase. I wasn't sure if the kit had the access code, so I chatted with an Amazon representative who checked on it for me and said that it did. This was a great deal because Amazon allowed me to pay for the item over a 6-month period with no interest.

This is the worst. I ordered this book in new status and it was not new. New is meaning ALL things are included. Such as access key and so on. So now this has put me behind as far as finding the correct material for my class which starts Monday and no one has the book. Thank you very much.

Works just what I needed it for, a college textbook. My complaints with it is the easel is completely worthless, some of the pages are printed off-center (luckily I can still at least read what I need to), and there are little pieces of paper that come off every time i turn a page. I think they didn't do a good job when they cut out the holes for the spiral binding.
