Just the beginning quickly shows me that they would laugh at me if I went to enlist. The author, a UK fitness trainer, give the required running time and distance required to pass the fitness test for the varies military units (US and UK). You are given the guides for the various types of fitness training to cover specific body areas and desired end results. Most of these can be done at home without expensive equipment. An example is Weight Training which includes Power lifting and Olympic weight lifting. The Body Weight training gives specific exercises for a Calisthenics Home Workout. This home workout includes a 3 day plan. Monday- Chest, Triceps and Abs. Wednesday- Legs and Lower Back. Friday- Upper Back, Biceps, Shoulders and Abs. For Body Weight Fitness he recommends Burpee routines. A burpee is an exercise that comprises of strength, endurance and plyometric (jump training) Since they require no equipment and only a small space to perform, you can easily do them at home. Hiit training. These routines focuses more on building up your stamina by varying simple, no equipment cardio exercises to improve your heart functions. For the Kettle Bell, Strongman and Marine/Amphibious based training although detailed the author recommends you going to a gym for this heavy duty exercises. You learn how to create your personal home training routine. A detailed set of exercises to fit your specific needs. He closes with proper eating habits and what not to eat. I admit while writing this review I stopped and ate three Chocolate Donuts because I now know that if I am serious about this program it will be my last Chocolate Donuts ever. Wanting is not enough you MUST take action. The first step is getting this easy-to-follow fitness guide. Recommended.
I picked up this book for my husband as he is looking to increase his fitness level and has always admired the workouts of those in the armed forces. The author provides a brief explanation about what tactical fitness is and how is most likely to benefit from it. While it's obvious that anyone looking to get into any of the armed forces will benefit the most from this book, those that, like my husband, are looking to increase strength and reduce body fat, will also get a lot out of this book.With sample exercise plans and exercises, the book breaks down different focus areas to ensure that you're doing the right amount of exercise to meet the tactical needs of whatever you're training for.Short and to the point, this book will have you up to speed fitness wise, in no time at all.
If you are looking for military grade physical conditioning, this book will be for you. It covers a variety of different situations from passing initial armed services tests to preparing for combat readiness training. Weather's book contains a variety of topics that will be of interest not only to military, but to survivalists, law enforcement, and fire/rescue personnel. Also included are detailed workout regimes. Tactical Fitness focuses on stamina training as well. There is also an extensive diet section to compliment the main text. I’d recommend this book to anyone interested in this type of physical conditioning.
He gives some good information. Nothing dangerous or medically irresponsible.Then he suggests some exercises without explaining what they are.He gives really sane food advice, but forgets to mention water.Took 6 minutes to read the whole book, so it's really an article.
This is a great book for anyone looking to get into the military, a physically demanding career or just someone who would like to increase their fitness.It is clear that the author does really have a vast knowledge of all things regarding tactical fitness as he is a trainer that has personally worked with those from the military. This is reassuring to know and it really shows through the content in this book. I think it is very useful that different military requirements are included as it gives you an idea of what to aim for.As well as an overview of the military, different types of exercises and activities are suggested throughout the book that target different areas to properly prepare you for hard physical training.As well as this, diet recommendations on what to eat and what foods to avoid are included, so that you are fully prepared to push your body to the limit.Overall, this is a very well written and easy to follow guide to tactical fitness, which if you take action on, you are bound to see great results and to achieve your fitness goals.
Author stresses bok is intended for certain occupations. However I think most people can take advantage of some aspect of these training tips.
I would definitely be considered a weekend warrior. I have never been in the armed forces and am only a survivalist in my own mind. However, I have gotten very involved in boot camp training and some extreme endurance events in the past few years and really love the challenge that they put in front of me. That being said, I could definitely use some extra help in some areas and found on "Tactical Fitness" to be very helpful to me. He goes through several different ways to increase your skills, some of them I had never tried before but am making use of now. I also appreciated the guidance of specific types of work outs, the optimal diet for tactical fitness and some other useful team sports and activities that I could get involved in to hone my skills. This is an indispensable guide for anyone anticipating to be in military or any other tactically intense situation. This was a well written and easy to follow guide that I am continuing to reference. It's well thought out advice that is one of the best on the subject of tactical fitness that I’ve seen. Thumbs up.
